Grand View grew up around the site of the Dorsey Ferry, which originally worked the Bruneau River near its mouth. In 1910, the Grand View Irrigation District rebuilt the dam and has continued to provide irrigation water to the farmers in the valley. Two dams were built on the river, one in 1887, and antoher in 1892. The first permanent settlers in the valley came because of irrigation projects along the Bruneau River. The resident land owners of the Grand View area are listed on pages 47-51. The amount of acreage owned, the location of the land, and a list of crops raised on each farm is also included. It lists landowners by town, including those owning land in these two counties, but residing elsewhere.
